This film is a piece of widely appreciated series, the Globe Trekker of Ian Wright. The brave and avid trekker explores the distant places of United States. The passion to travel around further, makes him plan an odyssey to the South Dakota. Ian starts the trip from Badlands. His humorous gags and a witty approach of interacting with people help him know the history and culture of natives of Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota. With the dawn, he approaches Black Hills, the paradise of wonderful tunnels and caves created by natural attrition since millions of years. This is also known as the ‘island of trees in a sea of grass’. Bear Butte, the worshiping place of Sioux, comes next on his agenda and film goes ahead portraying this holy terrain.
Then, he uproots north towards the Deadwood town, once upon a time a well-heeled gold mining urban. Gaming parlors are the mainstream business and so the livelihood of inhabitants at this ex-golden city. Ian encounters a local cowboy while playing poker who tells the exploratory stories of ‘Wild West’ legends. During his stay in Jackson Hole, he even enjoys ridding with Harley Davidson bikers exploring further the fabulous panoramas. Ian also sees the sights at the momentous place of Little Bighorn. The next adventure he experiences high in air is the gliding that bestow him with the startling landscapes of Teton Mountains to see.
Yellowstone National Park comes next in his odyssey and then Nez Perce Reservation, Idaho where he witnesses the local dance called ‘Pow wow’, the ritual aimed at expressing tribute to the culture and devotion to the land and is performed by the Nez Perce. The end of film and so the pause to Ian’s expedition to the American Rockies is shot at Glacier National Park alongside the white water torrents of the Salmon River.
